Lexi Wermers of Crestwood, Kentucky is part of Bend and Zen’s lovely desk crew, and has worked there since August of 2017. She first began her yoga journey in February 2017 with Bend and Zen’s 35 days for $35 deal to newcomers of the studio. She soon fell in love and wanted it to be her place of work where she could also partake in a consistent yoga practice.
When Lexi was in high school, she ran cross country which involved long stretching sessions that she would always look forward to. She incorporated stretching into her everyday life, in a way creating her own yoga practice without knowing the posture names. Lexi has always been drawn to yoga and meditation. Now with her yoga practice at Bend and Zen, she says her mind is much clearer. She claims that she used to be scatter-brained and unable to focus on her personal life. Lexi had a hard time finding a balance between her relationships, school, and work. With yoga in her life, she’s noticed an improvement in her ability to use her time more wisely and to be more productive. Her practice was a time to herself to exercise, shut out the outside world, and relax. She loves that she is always progressing and exploring within her yoga practice. Lexi is grateful that yoga has brought her an amazing job and a community of people that support one another’s practices, and can learn from each other. Hot Fusion and Yang/Yin are Lexi’s favorite classes at Bend and Zen because of the incorporation of two yoga styles in one class. Her favorite postures include wide-leg forward fold because it allows the opportunity to get into a headstand, and eagle pose with its balance challenge and interesting look. Don’t forget to say hi to Lexi next time you’re in the studio! “A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms" Hello everyone! I'm Margaret Lewis, and welcome to my blog! I wanted to have a space to share with you the testimonials of our friends in the yoga community. I began working at Bend and Zen Hot Yoga in 2015 when we first opened, took a break to finish up school, and now I'm back and feeling so blessed to be among the yoga family.
Yoga is a powerful thing. It is greatly underestimated as a simple stretching class, or a trendy fad. After eight years of having the practice of yoga in my life, I can attest that it is much more than that. Personally, my practice began early in high school to gain more flexibility to balance with my sports. However, down the road it became much more meaningful as yoga became my saving grace through difficult times, both emotionally and physically. I've been around a lot of yogis in my life, especially with my job at Bend and Zen, and I have heard countless stories about how people's lives have changed for the better because of their practice. I am constantly inspired by these people's initiatives that they take to better their health and wellbeing, and through yoga have done just that. I feel that sharing the stories of these wonderful yogis is so important to enlighten hearts, inspire others to start up a practice, and show the power of yoga. "Fill your heart with what is important, and be done with all the rest." Read and enjoy! If you have a story to share, please contact me! |
